For us foodies, travelling is just as much about the food as it is about the the culture, sights and attractions. The US is one of the world’s best countries for food, as it has so many amazing destinations serving all manner of incredible foods.

1. Portland, Maine

Portland is, without a doubt, one of the best cities for food in the US. 2. Austin, Texas

Texas is a state known for its love of smoked and barbecued meats, melted cheese, and fried foods, and Austin is no different. From barbecued ribs and steak burgers to buttermilk fried chicken and deep fried cheese, Austin has a wide range of different dishes to choose from. For anyone with a love of smoked meats or deep fried foods, this is the ideal place to pay a visit to. 3. Santa Fe, New Mexico

This capital city of New Mexico is famous for its combination of Spanish, Mexican, French, Tex-Mex, and Mediterranean influences. The staples of cooking in New Mexico are rice, kidney beans and chiles, with almost every dish being served with either a red or green chili on it. Enchiladas are a popular food here but are served on wheat tortillas as a pose to corn tortillas. The food here tends to have spice to it, and so, if you aren’t a fan of spicy foods, it probably isn’t the kind of place that you would like to visit. 5. San Francisco, California
